The McCleery Golf Academy team of PGA of Canada Teaching and Playing Professionals is led by Director of Instruction, Mike Vanderwolf. Mike has been named PGA of BC Teacher of the Year and has helped many of Vancouver's top Professional golfers. His team consists of talented and experienced teachers including:

  • James Harper - BC Junior and BC Amateur Winner
  • Jeff Buder - Passionate Coach specializing in Elite Junior Golf

Mike Vanderolf - Director of Instruction

Mike is a recognized leader among teaching professionals in Canada. In 2000 he was named PGA of British Columbia Teacher of the Year and currently serves the PGA of Canada as a National Facilitator and Evaluator of its Teaching and Coaching Certification Program.  Phil Jonas - Teaching Professional

Phil is the 2012 PGA of BC Teacher of the Year and a 2013 Europen Senior Tour Player. Phil was born in Johannesburg South Africa, where we achieved great success as a junior by winning the South African Junior in 1976, 78 and 79. Phil also captured the Titles of World Junior champion in his respective age group in San Diego, California in 1974 and 1976.  Read More...

Jen joined the PGA of Canada and is pursuing a career on the LPGA Tour.The process to getting on tour is thorough and exhaustive but worth every moment.She is working in Canadian golf sales and as a Golf Instructor to keep her tour dreams alive; her passions are being a high performance athlete, she is conscious of health and fitness and is dedicating herself and her students to the pursuit of excellence. James Harper - Teaching Professional

James has been a member of the CPGA since 1987. He comes from a family of well-known golfers from the Nanaimo area, who have won 9 different provincial championships. As a junior, James won both the BC Junior and the BC Amateur in the same year, as well as representing Canada on the Junior World Cup Team. James played his college golf at Brigham Young University before turning professional. Read More..


Jeff Buder - Teaching Professional

Jeff has been a PGA of Canada Member for the past twenty-six years and comes to us from the Point Grey Golf and Country Club where he was the Head Golf Professional from 2005 - 2016.  Jeff found himself drawn to the game of golf while working at the Arnprior Golf Club as a junior. He competed in two Willingdon Cup matches for the province of Quebec and subsequently earned a golf scholarship at Austin Peay State University in Tennessee.  Read More...


Sandra Comadina - Teaching Professional  

Sandra has been a member of the Canadian PGA since 1995, completing her “Class A” status from the Whistler Golf Course in 1999. She then moved to Vancouver and McCleery Golf Course to focus her time on teaching and playing.  Read More...      



Jim Han - Teaching Professional

Jim was born in Seoul, South Korea and moved to Vancouver when he was 11 years old. Following a suggestion from his father, it wasn't long after he first picked up a club that Jim discovered the allure of the great game of golf. Read More...



 Dan Axford - Teaching Professional  

On a farm in St. Thomas, Ontario, Dan Axford’s grandfather gave his five year old grandson a broomstick attached to a two by four - Dan’s first golf club. With this makeshift club, Dan fell in love with the game of golf. Read More...



Dan Wellicome - Teaching Professional 

Daniel has been a Golf instructor since 1978 . He teaches and coaches players of all levels and ages. He headed up and the first Junior-Junior program in B.C. and has taught and helped aspiring and current CPGA golf professionals.   Read More...
